City leaders want more business downtown

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany leaders are taking another step to help the city grow.

They're holding a community meeting at the Law Enforcement Center this week to help anyone looking to start a business downtown or expand any existing ones.

They'll provide information on resources and free services that are already in the community to help support any new business.

Leaders are asking for folks with dreams or hobbies to join so they can think about ways they could make money and help bring more revenue downtown.

"We have a few large businesses in different communities but the truth of the matter is that small businesses really drive the community," said City Commissioner Ivey Hines. "Drive the community employment and development."

Organizers say since the economy is looking up, those wishing to start a business should prepare now and this meeting is a great, free way to help.

The meeting will be at the LEC this coming Saturday morning at 10.
