An Albany Vietnam Veteran is threatening to go on a hunger strike because of poor medical care he says he's receiving at Albany's V-A clinic.

65-year old Willie Ross shows us the dozens of bottles of medication he has been prescribed after being released from the hospital last week.

Ross has heart problems and says he's confused by all the different Doctor's instructions and diagnoses he's received recently.

Ross says many veterans complain about their care.

He says if his care doesn't improve by August 1st, he'll go on a hunger strike.

"If I am going to die, I'm going to die the right way," said Ross. "I'm just going to go on a hunger strike. I'm real depressed. And it's my right. I served my country."

Congressman Sanford Bishop met with Ross last week while he was being treated at Phoebe Putney Hospital to talk about his challenges with the V-A.

Ross said he wants all veterans to stand up and demand quality medical care for their service.

Congressman Sanford Bishop's office released this statement about Ross.

"Over July's District Work period, I had the opportunity to visit with Mr. Willie Ross at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to talk with him about the challenges he has encountered with the VA. I believe that veterans in my District and across America deserve timely and consistent care from the VA and their medical centers. Their sacrifice deserves our enduring gratitude and respect, and so my staff and I will continue doing our very best to ensure that veterans receive the highest possible quality of care and consideration."

We contacted V.-A. officials about this Ross and his situation, but they did not return our phone calls.
