Charles Allen was arrested for theft by the Crisp County Sheriff's Office
In a Friday evening News release, Sheriff Donnie Haralson reports the Crisp County Sheriff's Office was contacted by a Tennessee deputy in reference to two people at the Plantation House at Exit 92 off Interstate 75.
The Tennessee deputy reported the suspect, later identified as 20 year old Charles Allen, and a female juvenile were trying to get money from patrons to buy gas.
Upon Crisp County deputies arrival, it was discovered the female juvenile was a runaway from New York. She had been missing since July 8th, 2013.
After Crisp County Sheriff investigators contacted the New York state police it was discovered the vehicle was stolen from Chazy, New York.
The Department of Juvenile Justice was contacted and advised the Crisp County sheriff had custody of the juvenile. New York state police confirmed the missing person alert. The juvenile was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice to be returned to New York.
Authorities from New York State Police advised a warrant was being issued for grand larceny (auto theft) for Charles Allen. Allen was arrested for theft by the Crisp County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Donnie Haralson states his investigators and deputies have been hard at work and he applauds their efforts.
