The north and southbound lanes of Slappey Blvd. by the Liberty bypass were blocked for hours because of a semi wreck Friday morning.
APD says that John Probert, 47, from Rebecca, was driving a semi-tractor for Orgill Trucking Company from Tifton.
In a news release, the police department says that the truck "was traveling west in the inside lane on the Liberty Expressway when the driver 'blacked out.'"
The truck veered to the left into the median, and went another 128 feet before hitting the guardrail. After impact with the guardrail, the semi became airborne between two bridges before landing on Slappey Boulevard. The truck came to rest after it struck a concrete pillar.
APD said that William Raines, 51, was driving a 2009 Chevy Silverado owned by Reeves Construction, which collided with the semi after it landed on Slappey Boulevard.
Willie Lee Ray, 59, driving a 1995 Camaro, struck debris left by the semi on the Liberty Expressway. He was attempting to switch lanes to avoid the wreckage.
John Probert was transported to the hospital for further observation. Charges are pending until the APD Traffic Unit completes their investigation.
