ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Georgia National Guard's Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team showed off their capabilities to emergency services and Marine Base commanders Thursday.

The Georgia 4th W.M.D. Team is a specially equipped unit that can identify chemical,  biological, radiological,  Nuclear,  and high end explosive weapons and advise how to handle them.

The team consists of 22 active Army and Air National Guard personnel ready to help tackle any weapons of mass destruction threat in Georgia.

Unit Deputy Commander Major Sam Roberts said "Something that is completely foreign, completely scary to the normal citizen is what they do everyday. And they are highly trained for it. And they love what they do."

The team demonstrated many of their capabilities to South Georgia law enforcement and emergency response agencies today at the Marine Corps Logistics Base.

The unit is assigned to the Governor for state level response to emergency requests.
