ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Customers of Sims Pest Control are being warning by the company that some crooks are trying to collect money from unwary homeowners.

In a news release, Sims Pest Control says that people claiming to be from their company are calling people and saying that they have an unpaid balance, ,and to send them a payment, but those calls are not legitimate.

Here is their statement-

We have received reports of an individual representing himself as a Sims Pest Control team member attempting to solicit private payment information under the guise of collecting past due balances in the amounts of thousands of dollars.

While we do make collection attempts via telephone on occasion, Sims Pest Control will never ask for a payment without an approved work order, invoice, or service agreement.

We urge the public to be vigilant in responding to these types of calls. If members of the public receive calls that seem suspicious, we urge them to contact our office to review the validity of these claims.
