ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A local non-profit organization is helping teen victims of sexual assault and physical abuse celebrate Christmas a little bit early this year. The Lily Pad Center is preparing to host their first annual Christmas in July event.

They are asking the public to send gift donations appropriate for teenagers such as gift cards from major retailers. Organizers say the purpose of the event is to make sure that their teen clients are not forgotten about.

"When people are thinking about Christmas they get the cars the trucks," said Lily Pad Executive Director Cassandra Wright. "You know, they think about the smaller children, but in our line of business we help all kids up to 18 years of age. So with that being said we want to focus on them for that time just so that we can make sure that we can get everyone what we want to do is give them a gift."

The event will be held on July 27th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Lily Pad Center in Albany. You can drop donations off at their location on 320 W 2nd Ave Albany, Ga 31707 or give them a call at 435-0074.
