No charges have been filed as Albany Police investigate a shooting at Albany Area Laboratory Wednesday morning.

Authorities were called out to the business at 1711 E. Broad Ave. around 10:40 a.m.

Officials say a semi-automatic weapon was discharged inside the lab. Two people, including the owner of the gun were injured.

The victim, Claude Scott Lucas, 63, is recovering in the hospital from surgery after being shot in the stomach.

The owner of the gun, who has not been named, was taken to the hospital with injuries to his hand, treated and released. He has not been charged in the incident.

Police say the two men did not work together as originally thought. Lucas worked at the lab, and the owner of the gun was a subcontractor who serviced equipment for the lab.

The case remains under investigation.
