THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A Thomasville man is in jail after Police say he ran into a home and choked a woman.

Robert Lee Smith, 47, is charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats and acts.

Officers were called to a home on Magnolia Street Friday just before 1:30 a.m. in reference to a physical dispute. They found Smith, another man, and a woman on the ground.

According to a report, Smith came into the home and started to choke Yolunda Davis. Tyron Samuel, who was also there at the time, tried to break up the altercation.

Smith then grabbed a log and chased Samuel out of the house and hit him with the log, then went back inside and hit Davis with the log and began choking her again.

Police officers arrived to the scene shortly after and arrested Smith.

A report says alcohol was a factor in the fight.

Smith was taken to the Thomas County Jail. A bond amount was not immediately available.
