JACKSONVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Telfair Sheriff Chris Steverson says the woman who was found in the Ocmulgee River in Jacksonville, Georgia has been identified and an arrest has been made.

Investigators say they believe the woman is 64 year-old Judy Larue Murrow of Tampa, Florida.

Sheriff Steverson says 25 year old Joshua Lamar Helton of Plant City, Florida will be charged with the murder of Murrow.

Sheriff Steverson says Murrow died from a gunshot wound to the head. Her family lives in Florida and they have been notified. Murrow has no known previous connection to Telfair County.

Joshua Lamar Helton was taken into custody by investigators from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa and is currently in jail.

Sheriff Steverson says the Telfair County Sheriff's Office was notified of the body of a woman in the Ocmulgee River around 11 a.m. Thursday. They treated the case as an homicide.

Sheriff Steverson says investigators from the Telfair County Sheriff's Office, the Ben Hill County Sheriff's Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation worked around the clock to solve this crime.

Sheriff Steverson says this is still an ongoing investigation.
