County Commissioners vote on millage rate

Posted: Updated:
SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Worth County Commissioners are still debating whether to raise property taxes or not.

The vote was split, two to two Tuesday, after commissioners discussed whether to raise property taxes on homes, as well as businesses from 10.25% to 11.25% .

Two voted in favor to raise taxes, while the other two opposed the tax hike. One Sylvester woman believes that in the end property taxes will go up.

"The city doesn't mean anything to me anymore, I have no respect for them, so I'm sure they will raise taxes anyway," said Kay Coker, concerned citizen.

County commissioners aren't expected to reach an agreement until after the holidays.
