Accused of shooting two men at 1214 Zion Hope Road.
Accused of selling a firearm to Rodney Bennett.
Both Bennett and Thompson are being held in the Tift County Jail.
TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -
A dispute leads to a shooting leaving two men wounded in the Tift County Hospital. The Tift County Sheriff's office say Rodney Bennett shot a man in the back and another in the leg and hand at 1214 Zion Hope Road Saturday evening.
Tift County Deputies say Bennett filed a criminal trespassing report early Saturday accusing one of the men of driving in his yard. Bennett later purchased a twelve gauge shotgun from Timothy Thompson. Both Bennett and Thompson have a criminal past that led investigators to the Thompson home.
"He was subsequently found out to be a convicted felon, so was Mr. Thompson", said Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough. "So early Sunday morning investigators and deputies of the Tift County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant on the Thompson house and recovered 15 firearms from that house."
Bennett is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and one count of burglary in the first degree. Thompson is charged with 16 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Both suspects are being held in the Tift County Jail. The victims are being treated in the Tift Regional Medical Center.
