NEW DETAILS: Marine killed in Cordele Road accident

The Marine Corps Logistics Base has issued a news release about the death of one of their own.

MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE ALBANY, Ga.  —   Marine Sergeant Ronald Nabors, 26, of Harris, Texas, died Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with a tractor trailer on Cordele Road in Albany, Ga.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany community go out to the family members and friends of Sgt. Nabors.

Nabors was a member of the Marine Corps Logistics Command Maintenance Assistance Team.  He served in Afghanistan from Dec. 2009 – April 2010.  He reported for duty at MCLC on Oct. 28, 2011.  His decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the NATO – International Security Assistance Force Afghanistan Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation – Navy, two Good Conduct Medals, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, a Certificate of Appreciation, Meritorious Mast and three Letters of Appreciation.

A 26 year-old Albany Marine is dead after he was killed in a motorcycle crash with a semi-truck Sunday in East Albany.

Sergeant Ronald A.Nabors II, who was stationed at the Marine Corps Logistic Base, was riding his motorcycle when he crashed into the truck on Cordele Road a little after 11 a.m.

Police say Nabors on his motorcycle was heading north on Cordele Road when he struck the passenger side of the 18 wheeler.

The truck, driven by 27 year-old Grant Lee Cannon, was traveling south, and making a left turn into the Pilot Truck Stop.

Nabors was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The wreck is still under investigation, and charges are pending.
