SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) - A new Lake Erie license plate will be available for Ohio drivers who want to help protect and restore the lake

The Ohio Lake Erie Commission says the new design will be available from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles starting Monday.

The newest Lake Erie plate design features a life ring with the words "Lake Erie" on it. Birds in flight are inside the ring on a backdrop of a sunset and lake waves. Drivers also can still buy the Marblehead Lighthouse plate.

A commission official says money from the sales of both plates goes to the Lake Erie Protection Fund. The fund provides grant money for projects that protect and restore Lake Erie and its watershed.

The fund receives $15 each time someone buys a plate for $25.
