All entrances into the city of Bronwood in Terrell County remained closed overnight. A powerful thunderstorm uprooted numerous trees sending them crashing onto homes and cars.
While no injuries were reported, officials say one family was trapped in their home until first responders arrived to rescue them.
First responders and public works crews are expected to be on scene for several hours clearing debris and removing downed trees.
At least one falling tree split through the middle of a home.
Several power lines were brought down by damaging winds that moved through around 11 Thursday night. The lines, along with debris, prompted officials to cut off access into the city.
We have a crew on the scene. Look for updates on WALB.com and Today in Georgia beginning at 5 AM.
