ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Since the lottery started, it has returned 14.3-billion dollars to the state to help education.

More than 1.6-million students have received HOPE scholarships.

One Darton State student told us, without HOPE, college would have been much more difficult for her.

"I would have but it would been a lot more difficult to get involved...currently I'm president of servant leadership here so I definitely would have not been able to get involved in that program had I not had hope scholarship because I would have had a ton of loans to pay off," said Lauren Toebe, Darton State student.

The lottery has also funded pre-kindergarten for more than 1.2-million 4-year olds.
