THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

34-year-old Misty Cox is in the Thomas County Jail charged with two counts of taking contraband beyond a guard line.

Misty Cox is the wife of Jeffrey Cox who is the owner of Murphy Drugs and who is charged with several drug related offenses and vehicular homicide.

Thomas County Narcotics Agents say Misty Cox was caught Tuesday in the act of trying to smuggle contraband including orthopedic socks, candy, protein, bars and razors into the jail for her husband.

Agents say on Monday they found tobacco and coffee in a garbage can near the jail intake area and say they now believe Misty Cox left it there for her husband.

Jeffrey Cox was arrested about two weeks ago and was denied bond. Another pharmacist Karen Dunlap was also arrested, but later released on a $25,000 bond.

Agents say more arrests are expected. The pharmacy remains closed.
