ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Six year old Javeion McClendon was hit by a car Sunday night in Northwest Albany.

Dougherty Co. Coroner Michael Fowler told WALB Tuesday morning that the boy died Tuesday about 10:30 AM at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta.

The accident happened in the 900 block of Harding Street around 7:30.  Police say was playing outside and darted out into the roadway.

"Javeion was a little boy who loved life. He loved sports. He was very little but very tough. He was very spiritual. He liked to sing. He liked to preach," said Bessie McClendon, his Great-Grandmother.

Police say McClendon darted into the road while playing and 25 year old Ashley Anderson did not have time to stop before striking him with her Dodge Durango.

No charges have been filed.  Funeral plans have not been made yet.
