THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Prospective students can apply to one south Georgia college for free Tuesday.

Southwest Georgia Technical College is hosting Free Application Day Tuesday at their Thomas, Grady, and Mitchell County campuses.

The application fee will be waived for all first-time applicants, but only if they apply Tuesday.

"We understand that economic times are tough right now so for students that are interested, they can come tomorrow. We'll be here from 7:30 to 6 and we will also be testing until 5:30 that day," said Recruiter Betsy Forehand.

South Georgia officials say with the closing of Southwestern State Hospital, they expect some laid off employees to return to school to be retrained.
