Cars hit head-on on southside

Police and ambulances responded to an afternoon wreck on South Slappey Boulevard in Albany. Two cars collided about four o'clock in front of the Popeye's Chicken. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to free at least one person.

APD says that a woman driving a Lexus was traveling North bound on Slappey colliding head on with a Honda, which was carrying two women.

Police say all three were transported to Phoebe Putney Hospital, for medical attention resulting from injuries sustained in the incident.

The status of the injuries sustained is unknown at this time. Charges are pending the completion of the traffic investigation.
