LAKE PARK, GA (WALB) -

Two Lowndes County restaurants remain closed tonight after a propane tank exploded inside the building.

The blast happened Friday afternoon inside Denny's in Lake Park off of I-75. Four Denny's employees and one Subway employee were injured. Three of them were taken to South Georgia Medical Center. The Lowndes County Fire Department is investigating the explosion. Officials say it appears to have been an accident.

"Some contract workers who were working in the building noticed the smell of propane and shortly after that the explosion occurred. So, all of that is still formally under investigation. However there's been no information come to light that anything other than propane was the cause of the blast," said Paige Dukes, Lowndes County spokeswoman.

Officials say the Denny's and Subway will remain closed until further notice while repairs are made.
