Health fair offers free HIV testing

A motorcycle club and the Southwest Georgia Health District teamed up to raise awareness about HIV in the community.

This is the third year for the community wide HIV health fair. This year the Viper Unit MC participated with a bike run.

Several organizations came out in recognition of National HIV testing day which is June 27. Organizers say the most important thing is for people for know their status.

"The concept is trying to get more HIV awareness out there and make people more aware that they need to get tested. Because we know that knowledge is power and we want to make sure the community as a whole know that they should get tested to know their status," said Dr Chanel Scott-Dixon.

Everything was free at the health fair. The fair also offered vision and weight screenings.
