ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Many people enjoyed some skeet shooting Saturday while helping a south Georgia man who was critically injured in a car crash.

All of the money will go to medical bills and to help the family.

Friends and family of 20 year-old Tyler Smith were aiming to raising money at the Flint Skeet and Trap Club. Tyler's family members are amazed with how many people have turned out to help.

"It's just overwhelming that these many friends and family and also people that we don't even know called us. And some here today we never met before came here just to give a pray for Tyler and give a little money of course. Their prayers is what we need more than anything," said Glenn Smith.

More than 60 people from Mitchell, Baker, and Worth counties came out to compete on teams.

In May, Tyler was driving when he was hit by a semi on Antioch Road. This is the first time Tyler's parents have been home since the crash because they've been spending all their time caring for Tyler.

While in high school, Tyler was a part of the Lee County 4-H Shotgun team. His father says guns were always something Tyler enjoyed.

Everyone agrees this was the perfect fund raiser.

"He was brought up shooting you know. Hunting is a part of our lives. Shooting guns. He enjoyed it since he was old enough to tote a B-B gun," said Glenn Smith.

Tyler's sister says he's making progress every day. He's still not able to walk and talk. And the family is praying for a miracle, that Tyler will pull through.

"We're going to give God all the Glory. That's our main focus. It happened for a reason. We're here to pick up the pieces and keep moving," said sister Lacey Ragin.

Lacey says the family is staying in hotels while away from home. She says even strangers are showing their support and praying for Tyler to get well soon.

On Thursday, Tyler was moved from a Macon hospital and is now in stable condition at Shepherds Hospital in Atlanta.  Saturday's skeet shoot raised more than $10,000 for Tyler and his family.
