ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany woman is dead after she was hit by a car on West Oglethrope Boulevard and Harding Street.

The incident happened about 5:30 Saturday morning.

Natosha McCray was struck by a Chevy Impala as she was walking across Harding Street.

Police officials say the driver of the car, Demetria Harris, was traveling east on Oglethorpe Boulevard and Harding Street, when she struck McCray who was walking south on Harding.

Harris drove away from the scene and hit parts of a building at the 800 block of Oglethorpe Boulevard, lost control of the vehicle, went through a fence and struck a tree in the 800 block of West Highland Avenue which is where the vehicle came to a stop.

WALB NEWS 10 has learned McCray lived in the area.

Harris and her passenger, Kevoski Ware were taken to an area hospital. Charges are pending for both. Albany Police will continue to investigate the incident.
