Albany citizens raise money to cure Alzheimerz

People who deal with Alzheimer's disease every day chose today, the longest day of the year, to raise awareness of the disease.

An evening of music and games called "the Longest Day" commemorates the experience of caregivers dealing with loved ones who have the disease.

Friday nights event at Veteran's Park in downtown Albany also raised money for the Alzheimer's Association.

"For me my grandmother, she suffers from Alzheimerz, so I'm coming in representation of her or whatever and just the people you see out here and so they took the time out of their busy schedule to come out just like I did and they showed their love come out for the perfect cause," said Tim Chappell, Event Emcee.

Organizers encourage you to get a team together for the Alzheimer's Walk that will be held at Riverfront Park October 19th to raise money to help find treatments or a cure for the disease that affects more than 5 million Americans.
