Bainbridge City Council approves Golf Cart Ordinance

The Bainbridge City Council approved an ordinance that prohibits children under the age of 15 from operating golf carts, ATVs or other similar vehicles on roads within the city limits.

It is already a state law. Recently, there has been a rash of close calls.

"We had individuals under the age of 10 years old driving them on streets where the speed limit was 35 MPH or higher," said Bainbridge Department of Safety Director Eric Miller. "Traffic was either backed up or came close to hitting them.

Violators will get warnings for 30-days before penalties are handed out.
