ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It was moving day at Albany's new FedEx distribution center.

FedEx Ground officials spent the day moving into a new 61,000 square foot distribution center on Dougherty Avenue right off Liberty Expressway.

The new building is right next door to their former center.

Economic development officials say it's a good sign that FedEx is investing to grow in Albany.

Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission President Ted Clem said "this new expansion will create some new jobs. Maybe around 15 new jobs. And they are investing an additional 3 and a half million dollars into our local tax base. That's all good news."

The new 9-acre facility more than triples the size of the current FedEx Ground facility.

Clem says that's another sign that the economy is improving.
