LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

Law enforcers said they're on the lookout for drunk drivers as Independence Day nears.

Law enforcement agencies across the state are teaming up to crack down on drunk driving between now and the fourth of July.

The Governor's office of Highway safety said the holiday is one of the most dangerous to be on the roads. The Georgia State Patrol, Sheriff's Deputies, and Police officers will be working overtime to keep you safe.

"We're here to serve and protect the citizens of Lee County, and we're gonna do what we can to make sure everybody's safe," said Chief Dep. Lewis Harris, Jr., Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Harris said motorists who see a dangerous or possibly drunk driver should call 911 right away.

He also said you should enjoy July 4th celebrations, just make sure to have a designated driver if you plan on drinking.
