VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Three Florida men face multiple charges after they led Lowndes County Sheriff's deputies on a high speed chase.

Steven Toussant, Patrick Noel, and a third man who is still recovering in the hospital were stopped THurday around 4:15 p.m. on I-75 for a window tint violation.

Deputies say Toussant pulled over then sped off, got off the interstate at exit 22, and collided head-on with another car on Highway 41. Then flipped several times before landing in a ditch.

Officials say they ran because that third man had warrants out for his arrest in Florida and because they had multiple stolen credit cards and drivers licenses in the car.

"We're still investigating the background of the other two potentially that they're wanted as well. But we think the credit cards was the main motivator for them fleeing," said Lt. Stryde Jones, Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.

Toussant and Noel are charged with financial transaction card theft. Toussant faces multiple other charges including fleeing and driving under the influence.

Deputies won't release the third man's name until he's released from the hospital and they arrest him.

Three men traveling through Lowndes County are in trouble with the sheriff after they led deputies on a high speed chase Thursday.

The driver who took off when he saw the blue lights said he ran because one of the men in the car had a Florida warrant.

He flew off the Interstate and then onto Highway 41, where he struck another car head-on. Thankfully, the driver of the other car was not badly hurt, but his car was totaled.

Lowndes Co. Sheriff Chris Prine has released the following;

On Thursday afternoon, around 4:15 a deputy assigned to the Interstate Criminal Enforcement unit of the Sheriff's Office observed a Toyota Camry traveling north on Interstate 75 with window tint clearly in excess of the allowed limits.

The deputy performed a traffic stop near the 15 mile marker and as the deputy began to approach the vehicle, the vehicle sped away leading to a chase north on the interstate.

The vehicle exited the interstate at exit 22 and proceeded toward Valdosta and after a couple of turns eventually turned onto Old U.S. Highway 41 North where they struck another vehicle head-on.

The fleeing vehicle left the roadway and flipped several times. The three {3} occupants of the vehicle, who were not seat belted, were injured and were transported to South Georgia Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle, which was struck, had minor injuries but was not transported for treatment. His vehicle sustained extensive damage.

During investigation, it was learned that the driver had fled because one of the parties in the vehicle was being sought for arrest warrants in Florida. Deputies also located a number of driver license and credit cards that were not issued to any of the persons in the vehicle. Investigators confirmed that the items had been stolen from various locations in south Florida.

Additional investigation is being conducted and the rightful owners are being contacted. Two of the occupants were released from the hospital and were transported to the Lowndes County Jail. The third person was hospitalized for additional treatment of his injuries.

The two {2} in jail will appear for an arraignment hearing in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court today where a bond will be considered. Additional charges on the trio may be forthcoming as this investigation progresses.

Steven Toussant,  23, from Pompano Beach, Florida is charged with: Fleeing and attempting to elude Financial transaction card theft Driving with a suspended license Driving under the influence Weaving over the roadway Failure to wear a seatbelt

Patrick Noel, 26, of Wilton Manor, Florida is charged with: Financial transaction card theft Failure to wear a seatbelt

The third person, who is being sought by Florida authorities, is not identified because he has not yet been arrested.
