Albany man sentenced to 5 years for false imprisonment and battery

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A 39 year old Albany man has been sentenced to serve 5 years in prison after being found guilty of false imprisonment and battery in trial Thursday.

Vashon Olds was found not guilty of kidnapping and aggravated assault by the jury after the four day trial.

Prosecutors say Olds attacked a woman in her home in February 2009, tying her to her bed with the intent of raping her.

Olds received a ten year total sentence, with the first five to be served completely in prison.

Prosecutors say Olds still faces pending charges of aggravated sodomy and aggravated assault in the attack on another woman.
