Company to bring in businesses for Dougherty County
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The Albany Dougherty County Economic Development Commission has hired a company to help bring in businesses.
Board members met with the Research On Investment group, or ROI, on Wednesday. The international company was hired on a yearly contract to research and recruit potential businesses to relocate to Albany. Board members have been discussing this idea for three years and it's now moving ahead.
"We are actually going to be reaching out to companies that look like they have the potential to grow and expand and bring them to Albany. And hopefully sell Albany to them. So it puts us out front with it," said Jay Smith, the EDC Chairman.
Wednesday, board members also approved the 2013-2014 budget. The only major difference from last year is that they're using reserve funds to pay for the ROI group.
