CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

The search continues tonight for a man accused of trying to rob a Cordele motel.

Police say 24-year-old Benny James Johnson the third jumped over the counter of the Ashburn Inn on East 16-th Avenue June 13th when no one was at the counter then ran away when an employee walked in on him trying to get money from the cash register.

"When the clerk returned to the lobby area, she caught him behind the counter trying to open the register. She confronted him, and he fled," said Det. Scott Farrow, Cordele Police Department.

No money was taken and no one was injured.

Investigators said Johnson was last seen in the Vienna area. You're asked to call the Cordele Police Department at (229)276-2921 if you know where to find him.
