Rescued worker has surgery


We are learning new details about the man who was rescued Tuesday in Ocilla after he became trapped a top of a grain elevator.

36-year-old John Collins of Fitzgerald was repairing a motor one hundred feet a top the grain elevator at Irwinville Peanut when his arm got pinned in the machinery.

Collins is an electrician with Alvin Wynn Electric and was doing contract work. His employer tells us he underwent surgery at a Savannah hospital and will likely require more in an effort to repair and save his arm.

He was airlifted from the scene Tuesday after rescue crews from three counties worked to free him.
