Visitors paddling through south Georgia enjoyed a street party in their honor tonight. They gathered in downtown Camilla.

Several hundred canoeists and kayakers are taking part in Paddle Georgia 2013. It's a weeklong trip down the Flint River from Lake Blackshear to Bainbridge. Paddlers say it's a lot of fun and a great learning experience.

"We're learning about the Flint and all the demands on the Flint, the irrigation, municipal, industrial demands and so the people are paddling the river are also learning about the river and how they can protect it," said Joe Cook, Paddle Georgia Coordinator.
