VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A two-year-old little girl drowned in her family's swimming pool Monday night.

The girl managed to get out of the home and into the pool about 6:00PM.

The mother was inside with her other children at the home on Pearl Davis Road when they realized the little girl was gone.

Lowndes Co. Sheriff Chris Prine sent this news release-

On Monday evening around 6:00 deputies, fire fighters and emergency medical personnel were called to a residence at 5068 Pearl Davis Road regarding a possible drowning. Upon the arrival of emergency workers, the child, a two {2} year old female was rushed to South Georgia Medical Center by ambulance but was unable to be revived.

Investigators from the Sheriff's Office are conducting an investigation but thus far the incident appears to be a tragic accident.

The name of the child is being withheld at this point in order to allow the family to notify their family members who may live in other states.
