ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A museum honoring famed cook Paula Deen is coming to Albany.

The idea has been in the works for nearly two years. Consultants met Friday to begin developing the museum.

Deen still owns most of the furniture from her family's Albany home where she grew up, and wants to use it in the museum.

It will include a retail shop and maybe a cooking area.

Developers won't say exactly where the museum will be, but say they have two locations picked out in downtown Albany.

"This started a year and a half, to two years ago, recalls museum chairwoman B.J. Fletcher. "This has been amazing to me that it has remained a secret. And again we don't release anything until Paula gives us permission because this is Paula's show. But it's just exciting and we know what's going to happen at the end of the year."

Fletcher says she received a call Monday morning with a request to move the museum to Savannah, where Deen lives now.

She says that's not going to happen.

Developers say they would like for the museum to open around the holidays.
