ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany police officers were showing off their fun side on Saturday in Tift Park.

More than 30 officers came out for some fun in the sun for the department's annual Day with a Cop event. Children enjoyed jumping in a moon walk, while families danced to music, and ate food off the grill.

This is their third year hosting the event.  Organizers say that more and more people come out each year and they hope they're doing their part to erase the negative stigma about law enforcement.

"Were not here to fear, a lot of times, a lot of time children are programmed to fear the police, so we want to break that cycle, we want them to understand that were here to help, were here to encourage them to and to help build a better community," said investigator Kawaski Barnes

Albany Tech representatives also gave out information to children about furthering their education.  Area Pop Warner football league coaches also came out to support Saturday's event.
