ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Phoebe Putney's annual men's health fair gave folks the opportunity to give the men in their lives a priceless gift this Father's Day weekend.

Saturday's event offered free diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure checks. Attendees could also win door prizes, enjoy lunch, music and hear from a guest speaker.

Event organizer Darrell Sabb says that early detection can help prevent health issues. He says that although some men aren't particularly fond of the doctor's office, it's up to them to recognize their health as their wealth.

"We use this as an opportunity to look at men's health and the value of men as fathers to our families and to our communities, so on this day we've had hundreds of men come out to celebrate Father's Day, we call it healthy fathers make healthy families," said Sabb.

This was the 12th year that Phoebe has held the men's health fair on Father's Day weekend.
