ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

There is a new beast running around Chehaw Park and it is full of energy.

A baby Wildebeest was born yesterday Thursday afternoon.

It is the second birth for the 14-year-old mother at Chehaw.

But the first that started and finished at the park.

Zoo keepers are blown away of how quickly the calf is growing.

"Babies walking within hours of being born and within two or three days they are essentially required to keep up with the rest of the herd," said Ben Roberts Manager of Animal Programs at Chehaw Park.

If you would like to see the little guy in person, the mother and calf will be released into the Veldt exhibit tomorrow morning.
