ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A wanted gang member was arrested by Dougherty County Police Wednesday after a sting operation targeted various groups nearly two years ago.

The District Attorney said Crips member William Courtney Johnson was one of the last remaining gang members who hadn't been arrested in a 2011 gang roundup. He said police arrested roughly 80 Crips members in that sting, which dramatically reduced criminal activity in the city.

"We believe we made a big impact on the Crips gang, certainly, with the arrests that we did back in 2011, and in a continuing effort to address them," said Gregory Edwards, Dougherty County District Attorney.

Edwards isn't sure when this case may go to trial.

He said law enforcers will continue to be on the lookout for the few other accused gang members originally targeted in the 2011 sting who haven't been caught.
