ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Radium Springs Gardens earned a special award this morning. A group of master gardeners, volunteers and city officials received the 2012 award for "Best Pollinator Habitat" across the state.

The gardens were severely damaged during the Flint River floods of 1994 and 1998. Since then, there has been a collaborative effort to restore its beauty.

"It's just been a beautiful cooperative effort from the citizens, the Radium Springs neighborhood association, the master gardeners and the county," said Chairman of the County Commission Jeff Sinyard. "All of those people worked together to keep this place special and beautiful."

The award was issued by the Monarch Across Georgia.
