Water Gas and Light rates going up

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Water Gas and Light customers will see an increase in their water bill.

Thursday morning the Water Gas and Light board approved the utility's $127 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

It's a nearly $5 million increase from the current year.

Water rates will rise 3.5 percent.

Gas and electricity rates are expected to increase 3 percent and 5 percent respectively, but those rises depend on how hot the summer is and how cold a winter comes.

Other increases include a $2 charge for credit card payments and $15 late fee charge, up from $6.
