Valdosta authorities are on the look out for a heavy-set man who stole money from the clerk at the Raceway Store on St. Augustine Road, early this morning.
Here is a news release from the Valdosta Police Department-
On Thursday, June 13, 2013 at approximately 0302 hours, an African American male entered the Raceway store at 1406 N. St. Augustine Road, brandishing a handgun.
The unknown offender demanded money from the store clerk, Shavkat Shomansurov, while pointing the handgun at him and then left the store with an undisclosed amount of money.
Valdosta Police Department Detectives and personnel from the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory responded to the scene to investigate the incident. No one was injured during the incident.
At the time of the robbery, Valdosta Police Department officers and Lowndes County Sheriff's Department K9 deputies responded to the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
The offender was described as an African American male, 6'2", heavy set, wearing a red hoodie type shirt, and dark pants.
