ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A new business that focuses on people's sweet tooth celebrated their grand opening Wednesday in Albany.

Smallcakes opened their doors to the public Wednesday morning at 10, but fans began lining up outside before 8 a.m.

Smallcakes bakes and sells a variety of cupcakes and employs eight people. The shop took six months to get up and running.

The founders say many Smallcakes locations have done well, and expect the new store on Old Dawson Road to be one of the company's busiest.

"Valdosta's our busiest store right now, and we have store's in Atlanta, Dallas, California," notes founder Jeff Martin. "And you would think they would be the busiest locations, but its Valdosta, Tifton and lets see what Albany does. It's just so exciting. There's no rhyme or reason. We can't figure it out. People love cupcakes down here."

In honor of the store's opening, Smallcakes created a cupcake named the "Albany Caramel Crunch."

They plan to roll it out at all 40 stores next month.

Smallcakes - A Cupcakery is located at 2818 Old Dawson Rd. Albany.
