COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

While they were busy playing North Carolina in the NCAA Super Regional Saturday, three University of South Carolina players' names were called by teams in the Major League Baseball Draft.

Senior first baseman LB Dantzler, senior left-handed pitcher Adam Westmoreland and junior first baseman Brison Celek were selected on day three of the 2013 MLB Draft.

Dantzler was taken in the 14th round by the Toronto Blue Jays with Westmoreland a 26th round pick by the Miami Marlins and Celek a 31st round choice by the Blue Jays.

Dantzler is the Gamecocks' leading hitter with a .322 average (66-for-205) as well as 15 homers and 51 RBI.  He was named Capital One Academic All-American of the Year and was Carolina's male nominee for the 2012-13 H. Boyd McWhorter Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Westmoreland has been one of Carolina's top arms out of the bullpen with a 7-3 record and a 2.10 ERA in 60.0 innings pitched.   He has 60 strikeouts to just 11 walks with opponents hitting only .218 against him.

Celek has had his best season at the plate with a  .307 average (27-for-88) with 12 runs scored and 18 RBI in 30 games with 24 starts.  Celek owns a .396 on-base percentage and a .386 slugging percentage.

USC pitcher Tyler Webb was drafted by the Yankees in the 10th round of the draft.

South Carolina lost the first game of the NCAA Super Regional Saturday to North Carolina 6-5.  Game two of the best of three series is Sunday at 1 p.m.
