GSP confirms three deaths in ambulance wreck

The Georgia State Patrol issued a news release at 11:15 Thursday morning, confirming that three people were killed in a pre-dawn wreck in Irwin County-

From The GSP-

Around 5:00 a.m. this morning, a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer were traveling westbound on GA 32.

An ambulance from Coffee County was traveling eastbound on GA 32 with lights and siren activated.

The passenger car began pulling off the roadway to yield to the approaching ambulance. The tractor-trailer jack knifed across the centerline and into the path of the ambulance.

The ambulance struck the left side of the tractor and trailer.

There were two EMTs and one patient in the ambulance. All three are deceased.

Driver of ambulance Teresa Ann Davis, age 44 from Axson, GA.

Front passenger of ambulance EMT Randall Whiddon, age 56 from Ashburn, GA.

Charles Arvin Smith, age 65 from Tifton, GA, was the patient.

The driver of the truck is Rockwell Lott from Tifton, GA.

SCRT is conducting the follow-up investigation. Charges are pending the investigation.
