Tax money split gets a day in court

Turner County representatives are gearing up to go before the Georgia Supreme Court Tuesday for a case that could impact local option sales taxes statewide.

Turner County leaders couldn't agree with officials in Rebecca, Ashburn, and Sycamore couldn't agree on how to distribute the LOST revenue.

A judge ruled in favor of the cities, granting them 50% of the revenue.

The county sued, challenging the constitutionality of the whole process.

If justices throw out the entire statute, no cities or counties could collect the one percent tax which could be devastating for local budgets.
