ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Many south Georgians took time Monday to honor our country's fallen heroes.

Each Memorial Day in Albany, veterans pay tribute to troops who gave their lives for our country by placing wreaths at war memorials.

From WWI to Afghanistan, the flag at half staff honors those who went to serve and never came back.

American Legion Post 30 in Albany honors the fallen at an annual Memorial Day event. A caravan escorted wreaths to 4 war memorials in Albany.

Since WWI, 122 sons of Albany and Dougherty County have fought and died defending our freedom. Their names are etched in cement, a forever reminder of their sacrifice.
