NEWTON, GA (WALB) -

Baker County Sheriff's Deputies are on the lookout for a couple of thieves and are turning to the public for some help tracking them down.

Investigators said two burglars threw cinder blocks through the front windows of the BVM convenience store and the Petro gas station in Newton Wednesday night.

They said the men caused $2,000 in damage and made off with ten boxes of Newport cigarettes and two boxes of cigars.

"As of right now we have not leads. All we have are some photos and nobody seems to recognize them. And we are looking for assistance from the community to see if anybody can put a name with the faces we have," said Inv. Brent Alderman, Baker County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the men could be from out of town and may be linked to similar crimes in Albany. The crimes happened about fifteen minutes apart a half-mile from each other.

Anyone with information that could help identify the burglars is urged to contact the Baker County Sheriff's Office at: (220)734-3003.
