THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

New 3D technology is allowing south Georgia patients to take a glimpse into their own surgical future.

Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Courtney Houston of Thomasville recently purchased a Vectra 3D Imager.

The machine allows patients to see a real-life picture of how they will look following a surgery.

Houston says while the imager can be used for a variety of procedures, it's mainly used for breast augmentations.

"A lot of mistakes are made with women wanting to go too large with implants. It creates a lot of problems in the immediate post-op period and can cause significant problems later on in life."

The Thomasville Aesthetic Center is the only facility to house this type of 3D imagery south of Macon and Columbus.
